Remarks

Note on gender of genus: the genus name is of uncertain etymology, but is thought to be from the Greek 'anthriskos' or 'anthriskion' (n. and/or m. in gender), referring to 'chervil'. When publishing the genus, Persoon listed 3 species on p. 320: vulgaris (m/f), nodosa (f.) & trichosperma (n.), but corrected the gender of the all 3 species to masculine on p. 526 of the same work. As there is no definitive gender assigned by nomenclatural tradition, the genus should be considered masculine as assigned by the author.
