The priority between ‘Primula obtusifolia var. roylei Hook.f., Fl. Brit. India 3(pt. 9): 489. Dec 1882’ and ‘Primula obtusifolia var. roylei G.Watt, J. Linn. Soc., Bot. 20(nos. 123-124): 8. 18 Dec 1882’ is uncertain. However, for their new combination P. roylei, Balfour and W.W. Smith (in Notes Roy. Bot. Gard. Edinburgh 9: 198. 1916)) referenced to Hooker’s publication first and G. Watt’s publication second. Therefore, the Hooker name is perceived to have priority, and the G.Watt name is treated as an isonym
