doi:10.1600/036364422X16442668423347 Notes: 'Cayeux (1930) published the name Venidium fastulaceum Cayeux for artificial garden hybrids reportedly between Arctotis fastuosa and A. hirsuta (the latter at that time often cultivated under the misapplied name Venidium calendulaceum). Given that the name V. fastulaceum was based on hybrid plants, as stated by Cayeux, the new combination as a nothotaxon in Arctotis is formalized here. No original material has been traced and no herbarium specimens that unambiguously conform to hybrids of this parentage have been examined.'
