Remarks
Spach (in Hist. Nat. Vég. 5: 410. 27 Jun 1836) published the species name “Webbia platypetala”. However, Spach (in Ann. Sci. Nat., Bot. sér. 2, 5: 356. June 1836) corrected the epithet “platypetala” to “platypetala” and mentioned “platypetala ex errore typographico”. Although it is not clear which publication came first, it is evident that Spach was aware of the misprinting. The Shenzhen Code Art. 60.1 allows correction of typographical errors. Since Spach himself made the correction of “platypetala” to “platysepala”, it is allowed. Steudel (l.c.) made the new combination “Hypericum platypetalum” and based it on “Webbia platypetala”; he did not mention W. platysepala. Since Spach’s typographical error is correctable, Steudel’s error is also correctable.
