Remarks

doi:10.12705/675.5 The generic name is a Latinized version of “tibisí”, a word from the Taino language used as the common name for several species of West Indian clambering bamboo. The Tainos historically inhabited most of the Greater Antilles and Lucayan Archipelago, and the collective distribution of the three species placed in this new genus mirrors that of the Tainos.
