Remarks
Linnaeus (Sp. Pl. ed. 2, 1: 282. 1762) cited the epithet as Oenoplia. He did not provide or indicate an etymology for his epithets. The 1762 spelling has often been considered to be a correction. However, since the 1753 epithet is grammatically correct, a spelling correction is not warranted..
