Remarks
Atamasca (the capitalized epithet indicates that it is a noun, not an adjective), as first used by Linneaus, was an orthographic error that he corrected to Atamasco (the American Indian name for rain-lily, also called Atamasco lily or Treat's zephyr-lily) in Sp. Pl. ed. 2. 1: 420. 1762 (vide Dan H. Nicolson (US); pers. comm.).
