Remarks
Although Willdenow did not refer to Aeschynomene aculeata Schreb. directly or indirectly, he adopted the epithet of A. aculeata, a name applied to the same taxon (vide nternational Legume Database & Information Service; http://www.ildis.org/ accessed on 20 Sep 2007). Therefore, his citation of A. bispinosa Jacq. (1792) as a synonym does not cause illegitimacy and C. aculeata is treated as a comb. nov. (cf., Vienna Code Art. 33.3 Ex. 10).
