Status: nom. illeg. later homonym In his 1753 (Sp. Pl., vol. 1) and 1762 (Sp. Pl. ed. 2, vol. 1) works, Linnaeus treated 27 and 32 Salvia species, respectively, and each species is numbered.. Subsequently, he (Mant. Pl., 1767) added 5 new Salvia species, starting the no. from 33 (to 37); the no. 36 pertains to Salvia aegyptiaca L. (non L. 1753)
