Ruprecht (preface p. 6) mentioned: “In sequentibus pagellis species Cryptogamarum vascularium 96 primi et 33 secundi ordinis s.d. varietates... (second-order species or species within species sive dicta = also called varieties) The 96 'primi' are clearly numbered, and all the 'secundi' are clearly labeled with Greek letters. Therefore, despite being presented as binary combinations, the are all infraspecific epithets, following Art. 24.4, ICN (2018). Regarding the lectotype, K. M. Pryer and Haufler state: 'Sitcha. Polypodium calcareum Sm. Bongard Voy. Sitch. Dr. Mertens'
