Ottley's comb. nov. L. nevadensis var. douglasii is incorrect when made. The cited basionym L. douglasii Greene (1890) is a nom. nov. for Hosackia decumbens Benth. 1829 (non L. decumbens Poir. 1814). When S. watson (1876) published Hosackia decumbens Benth. var. nevadensis S. Watson, he automatically created H. decumbens Benth. var. decumbens (1876). Ottley should have published L. nevadensis var. decumbens (Benth.) Ottley.
