- Type Remarks
- Roig (l.c.) validated P. Wilson's unpublished name Castelaria ('Castellaria') spinosa. Perhaps, unaware of the validation of the preceding name, Cronquist (l.c.) inadvertently made a new combination; he mentioned P. Wilson's Castelaria species name as unpublished and proposed Castela spinosa as a 'sp. nov.', provided a description in Latin, and cited the type information as 'Type: Shafer 11082, rocky places, Las Martinas to the Coast, Pinar del Rio, Cuba, December 19, 1911 (NY); isotype (US)'. Cronquist’s type citation is construed here as an inadvertent act of lectotypification process.
