This name likely refers to the same taxon as Coccomelia racemosa Reinw., Cat. Gew. Buitenzorg (Blume): 110 (1823), which mentions the vernacular name 'Menting'. However, the 1825 name refers to a plate in Marsden’s 'History of Sumatra', 3rd ed.), which is a different species that doesn't match his description. Pierardia racemosa in Bijdr. Fl. Ned. Ind. 12: 579 (1826) also refers to 'Menting'. If the 1823 and 1825 C. racemosa Reinw. names refer to the same plant, then C. racemosa Reinw. is the basionym for Baccaurea racemosa.
