Remarks
At the end of the genus description, Warburg (1895) mentioned “Ausser der folgenden etwa 3 madagassische Arten” and published B. usambarensis as a new species. Subsequently, for Brochoneura, he (in Nova Acta Acad. Caes. Leop.-Carol. German. Nat. Cur. 68: 128, 234. 1897) included 4 species (B. acuminata, B. madagascariensis & B. vouri from Madagascar & B. usambarensis from Usambara) and cited Myristica sect. Dictyoneura A.DC. (1856) as a synonym. The preceding sectional name is typified by M. madagascariensis
