Nomenclatural Notes

Status: nom. inval. protologue: “Leram of Nicobar is … the Pandanus of our botanists … Whether the Pandanus Leram be a new species, or only a variety, we cannot yet positively decide …” (sic). Jones seemed to have considered Leram as a genus name; his usage of “Pandanus Leram” is not regarded as a binomial and interpreted as a designation consisting of a generic name (Pandanus) followed by a noun (Leram) as a phrase name (see Art. 23.6)
