Latin (protologie): Planta inter Platanthera grandiflora (Bigelow) Lindley et P. psycodes (Linnaeus) Lindley intermedia et habitu, colore et forma florum, vel proprietibus speciearum mixtis (= Plant intermediate between Platanthera grandilfora (Bigelow) Lindley and P. psycodes (Linnaeus) Lindley and in habit, color and form of the flowers, or with properties of the species mixed). The Latin statement does not mention how the hybrid species differs from its parents.
