Remarks
In Wallich’s Catalogue, nos. 5987—6000 and 6002--6040 pertain to Vitis species names; for several names, he indicated that the original publication of the relevant name was in the genus Cissus, e.g., no. “5998 Vitis adnata Roxb. (sub Cisso)” (sic). Wallich did not ascribe the species name V. adnata to Roxburgh but provided an indirect reference to the basionym C. adnata Roxb. (1820). For no. 6001, Wallich mentioned: “Cissus cordata Roxb? (sub Cisso).” It evident from the citation of the terms “(sub Cisso)” and the sequence of the Vitis species names (nos. 5987—6000 and 6002--6040) that It is most likely that for no. 6001, Wallich intended to write “Vitis cordata,” which is analogous to no. 5998. Therefore, Wallich’s writing “Cissus cordata” correctable to Vitis cordata.
