Nomenclatural Notes
Status: nom. illeg. later homonym Swartz (Prodr. 125. 1788) published Epidendrum trigoniflorum Sw. as a superfluous illegitimate name for E. ophioglossoides Jacq. (1760). Subsequently, Swartz (1791) recognized E. trigoniflorum and E. ophioglossoides as two distinct species and thus inadvertently published E. trigoniflorum Sw. (1791) as the name of a new species (non Sw. 1788)
