Remarks
In Amoen. Acad. (l.c.), the name Cuscuta epithymum is associated with the numeral 332, and an explanation of the meaning of the numeral is given on p. 475 (the numbers refer to earlier descriptions published in Magnol’s Botanicum monspeliense, 1676). Some works (e.g., Stearn 1974) assert that Linnaeus (1759) intended to list this taxon as C. europaea var. epithymum and accept C. epithymum in later work of Linnaeus (Syst. veg. ed. 13: 140. 1774)
