Kerguélen (pp. 87, 220) cited the new combination as Elytrigia elongata subsp. Scirpea (C. Presl) Kerguelen ex Carreras Martinez (1986, p. 136) and a reference to the 1986 thesis of Carreras Martinez held at the University of Murcia, Spain. Stace (Watsonia 23: 543. 2001) asserted that the 1986 thesis was not effectively published and that Kerguélen is the author of the new combination
