Dodson & Bennett inadvertently made this new combination; they used Ada brachypus N. Wms., Brittonia 23: 41. 1972 (a bibliographic error for Brittonia 24(1): 108. 1972) and cited the basionym. N. H. Williams (1972) did not make the new combination A. brachypus; he cited the basionym Brassia brachypus Rchb. f. as a synonym of A. ocanensis (Lindl.) N. H. Williams. Therefore, no ex authorship is cited for A. brachypus made in 1989 (cf., Vienna Code Art. 46.3 Ex. 21).
