Remarks
Gaertner assigned the t. 158 p.p. to the name Lactuca muralis, and on p. 363, he listed Chondrilla (Lactuca in Icon. [t. 158]) muralis (‘turalis’) as the accepted name and remarked ‘Semina quidem Lactucæ, sed calyx & reliqua sunt Chondrillæ’ (The seeds are indeed of Lactuca, but the calyx and the rest are the Chondrilla). Since Gaertner used both names and did not reject either C. muralis or L. muralis, it is construed here that he published alternative names, and the name L. muralis is valid
