Remarks
Reference to the basionym lacking. In his invalid publication of the binomial “Cassia purpurea,” Roxburgh (Hort. Beng. 31. 1814) cited “Kala-Kulkashinda,” a Bengali name for this taxon. Both Lindley (l.c.) and Roxburgh (1832) also cited “Kala-Kulkashinda” for their relevant taxa. For his C. sophera var. purpurea, Voigt (Hort. Suburb. Calcutt. 248. 1845), referred to the 1814, 1825, and 1832 works (see Melbourne Code Art. 41.4).
