Note: the first usage of this epithet under a masculine genus was Asterocephalus prolifer (L.) Spreng., Syst. Veg., ed. 16 [Sprengel] 1: 380. 1824, therefore, the declension of the masculine form of the epithet should be maintained as 'prolifer', not 'proliferus'.
