Nomenclatural Notes
Status: nom. illeg. nom. superfl. ‘Rhynchospora intermedia Beyr. ex Kunth (1837)’ is an invalid name, and ‘R. intermedia Britton (1892)’ is a legitimate name. Clarke mistook ‘R. intermedia Beyr. ex Kunth’ as a valid name and ‘R. intermedia Britton’ as a later homonym; therefore, Clarke proposed R. pineticola as a new name, which was superfluous and illegitimate when published.
