Knuth did not provide a description, but referred to: “R. cordata (sensu) A. Rich. in Sagra Cuba XI (1850) 269, non L. -- R. hastata Griseb. Cat. P1. Cab. (1866) 251 (female) p. p., non L.” Of these, the reference to Richard’s description of “R. cordata validates the name R. wrightii. Knuth also referred to other collections (Cuba: Wright n. 1712 male p.p.; Valenzuela, male, female; Isla de Pinos: Curtiss n. 506 male p.p.). Nevertheless, since the name R. wrightii was validated solely by Richard’s description of “R. cordata,” the only original material for R. wrightii is that the one used by Richard for his description, i.e., Valenzuela’s collection cited by Richard (also cited by Knuth)
