A.A.Munir, J. Adelaide Bot. Gard. 7 (1984) 35 regards this name as a new name and not based on Bentham's variety. He gives the type as A. Dietrich 2628, Port Mackay, Queensland, 1863-1865 (MEL, PR syntypes!).
