Remarks

Although Roxburgh mentioned his C. cordata as a native of Amboyna, he cited Neriam pulli (as “Meriam-Pulli) in Rheed, Hort. Malab. 7: 91, t. 48. 1688” as a synonym; Neriam pulli occurs in Kerala, India and Rheede’s description and plate are considered to be the sole basis for C. repens Lam. (1783). Some treat C. cordata as superfl. & illegit. for C. repens. However, it is emphasized here that in 1820, the name C. repens remained untypified and that C. cordata was legitimate when published.
