Status: nom. inval. nom. nud. On p. 118, eight groups of Juncus (including Alpini), and three groups of Luzula are listed; no diagnostic morphological character; for these groups, the subgenus rank is mentioned on p. 104 (at the bottom); on p. 111, for his subgen. Alpini, Buchenau listed the included species (nos. 115-126); on p. 117(sub no. 16), a single seed character (‘semina scobiformia’) is doubtfully cited; since Buchenau neither provided any diagnostic/descriptive characters nor referred to any synonym (e.g., J. [unranked] Alpini Engelm.), his “subgen. Alpini” name was not validly published.
