Remarks
The name Machilus odoratissimus Nees (1831), when published, had several syntypes; Yang Yong (in Taxon 57: 653. 2008) lectotypified the name M. odoratissimus with ‘Wallich 2607B (K-W!)’; according to Ananad Kumar (in Phytotaxa 420(1): 92. 2019), the K-W has 2 sheets of Wallich 2607B (K001116552 & K000228478), and he did the LT II step process by designating the ‘K001116552’ as the lectotype and ‘K000228478’ as the isolectotype. Meanwhile, for his Persea himalayaensis, Gangopadhyay (2009) cited the type data as ‘Lectotype … Wall. Cat. no. 2607B (CAL , designated here; K-W, microfiche seen at MH)’. Since the name M. odoratissimus was fully lectotypified in 2019, Gangopadhyay (2009) did not include either the lectotype or all the syntypes of M. odoratissimus; his use of ‘lectotype’ is correctable to holotype (fide Art. 40 in Madrid Code (ined.); therefore, the name 'P. himalayaensis' was valid and legitimate when published.
