Alph. Wood ascribed C. lindheimeri to Eng. & Gray., and this ascription serves as an indirect reference to the basionym. Although he (preface vi) acknowledged Engelmann's contribution of important notes on Euphorbiaceae, he did not mention A. Gray's contribution; therefore, Alph. Wood alone is the combining author for the new combination.
