Brouillet cited Hosackia decumbens Benth. (1837) as a synonym and could have made A. decumbens (Benth.) Brouillet. Therefore, A. nevadensis (S. Watson) Brouillet, based on Hosackia decumbens var. nevadensis S. Watson (1876), was nomenclaturally superfluous (but not illegitimate) when published (cf. Vienna Code Art. 52.3 Ex. 14).
