Remarks
Caspary published “? 3. E. schweinitzii,” cited the basionym Apalanthe schweinitzii Planch., and remarked “Imperfecte nota; veresimiliter forma Elodeae canadensis.” Since Caspary listed E. schweinitzii as an accepted the name, his remark is construed as a taxonomic opinion and his usage of the query sign “?” is treated as an expression of taxonomic doubt, and the name was validly published (see Art. 36.1, last sentence)
