Nomenclatural Notes
Status: nom. inval. Latin description or diagnosis lacking for the varietal name. Gates provided a Latin description for O. biformiflora and mentioned the petals as: Petala circa 12-15 mm longa, lata vel cruciata. The preceding description belongs to the species and cannot extended to the varietal name

Dietrich & al. (in Syst. Bot. Mongr. 50: 125. 1997) designated a lectotype: CANADA. Quebec: Bellechasse Co., St. Vallier (cultivated at Regent's Park, England, from seeds collected on 1 Oct 1932 by Marie-Victorin and J. Rousseau), 1934, Gates 60.34 (lectotype, here designated: K! 2 sheets)
