Remarks
specific name honors: Noel Gauntlett, the first discoverer of this species in Jamaica. According to the protologue, the type collection was made by Berliners & Jesups and flowered in the Berliner Greenhouses, Long Island, NY. The holotype label, however, shows Jesup & Berliner as the collectors and it was cultivated in Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
