Pallas (p. 48) cited the epithet as camtschaticum; on t. 33, he cited the epithet as kamtschaticum. Later authors (DC. (Prodr. 7(2): 726. 1839) and Ledebour (Fl. Ross. 2(7): 922. 1846) accepted Rhododendron kamtschaticum.
