Remarks
Nuttall (1818) published A. oblongifolius based on his collection from the banks of the Missouri; later, he (1821) renamed the preceding species as A. graveolens (nom. superfl. & illegitimate) and assigned his collection from the banks of Arkansa to this name; in his 1840 publication, Nuttall distinguished A. graveolens (based on collections from the banks of Arkansa & Kentucky) from A. oblongifolius (based on the collection from the banks of Missouri).
