Note: the author uses 3 potential spellings of this genus in one paragraph: 'Pincinectitia', 'Pincenectitia' and 'Pincenectia'. Apparently when the plants were originally sent to Europe, the writing on the label was illegible. We have chosen to adopt the spelling 'Pincenectia' because that is what later authors have adopted, and because the original label - while illegible - was thought to resemble 'Freycinetia' (see: Wochenschr. Gärtnerei Pflanzenk. 2: 112. 1859.).
