Some works treat the name G. guadalupensis Fée as a new combination based on Polypodium guadalupense Wikstr., but Fée did not refer to the name P. guadalupense ot its author Wikström; furthermore, P. guadalupense is typified by a specimen of Forsström's collection, whereas G. guadalupensis is typified by L'Herminier specimen of 1861
