De Candolle (in Prodr. 1: 383, no. 194. 1824) listed 'S. Atocion (Murr. syst. ed. 13. p. 421 [1774])' as an accepted name; however, the preceding bibliography is an error and got perpetuated elsewhwre. Murray (in Syst. Veg., ed. 14: 421. 1784) listed S. atocion Jacq. (1776) as an accepted name. [In Syst. Veg., ed. 13 (vol. 2, 1774), the Silene treatment is on pp. 350-352, and the species name S. atocion is not included]
