Nomenclatural Notes
Status: nom. illeg. nom. superfl. Perhaps unaware of the illegitimacy of the name Myrtus mucronata Cambess. 1833 (non Pers., 1806), Landrum published “P. salutare var. mucronatum (Cambess.) Landrum” as a new combination. He cited several varietal names (dated 1857) as synonyms. Because of the cited varietal synonymy, P. salutare var. mucronatum, inadvertently published as a new name at the new rank, was superfluous when published.
