Remarks
Pugsley proposed Euphrasia frigida as a nom. nov. for “Euphrasia latifolia Pursh ex Wettstein, l.c. (= Monogr. Euphrasia) 136 (1896) … non L. Sp. Pl. 604, nec auct. angl.” Although Wettstein used “Euphrasia latifolia Pursh, Flor. Am. sept. II. p. 430 (1814)”, the preceding name does not exist. Pursh used E. latifolia L. Unlike Pugsley, Wettstein did not exclude the Linnaean type, and his usage of “E. latifolia Pursh” is the same as E. latifolia L.; therefore, Pugsley inadvertently published E. frigida as a sp. nov.
