Remarks

doi:10.1002/tax.12684 Etymology: 'The generic name derives from the contraction of the words Atacama, which refers to the Atacama Desert in northern Chile, and Allium, which is an iconic genus of bulbous monocotyledoneous flowering plants, that includes Allium cepa, the onion; therefore, Atacamallium means “Atacama onion”, referring to its distribution restricted to the Atacama Desert'.
