Remarks
doi:10.11646/phytotaxa.484.1.4 Named after the Mapudungun (Mapuche language) to honour the indigenous Mapuche people, who live in central-southern Chile and Argentina, where traditionally they have very close spiritual links to nature. The genus comes from 'rayen' which means 'flower', to highlight the remarkable flower of this species.
