Remarks

J. E. Smith, the publishing author, ascribed the name and its validating diagnosis to Borrer (protologue: Mr. W. Borrer communicated to us the present Rose, under the above name. He observed that it is common in hedges and thickets, and is nearly related to R. rubiginosa, t. 991, but much less prickly, less bushy, and more like (R.) canina, t. 992, in mode of growth. ... (vide Smith)).
