Wallich the (pp. 52-53) assigned the Cat. nos. 1916-1926 to the genus Bamia; subsequently, he (p. 87) reassigned the nos. 1916-1926 to the genus Abelmoschus Thus, B. magnifica was renamed as A. magnificus.
