Remarks
Etymology: hypo, under; pitys, pine (this species is often found under pine trees). L. referred to Orobanche quae Hypopithys ... Bauh. pin. 88. and Orobanche Hypopithys lutea. Mentz. pug. 3. f. 5. and spelled the epithet as Hypopithys (correctable to hypopitys; vide The Linnaean Plant Name Typification Project).
