Remarks

doi:10.1007/S12225-022-10072-X Etymology: 'The name of this species was coined by Amiet who inspired and supervised the doctoral research of the first author on Rinorea. “spongiocarpa” derives from the appearance of the fruit, which is not 3- angled as in most species of the genus, but subspherical, appearing inflated and spongy (even though it is hard)'.
