Standardization

Standardization of the data will be ongoing for the foreseeable future. IPNI has adopted the data standards endorsed by TDWG. The compilers now follow these standards when entering new data. The existing data will gradually be edited to conform to these standards, e.g. author abbreviations to follow Brummitt and Powell’s ‘Authors of Plant Names.’ Batch standardization procedures will help expedite this stage in the process.
