- the protologue does not mention a precise locality except stating with the preceding (referring to A. angustifolium from San Diego, northern California). The GH specimen label shows N. Cal., whereas the PH specimen label shows St. Barbara, N. Cal. According to James L. Reveal (BH; pers. comm.), both labels are in Nuttall's hand-writing.
Remarks
Nesom (Phytoneuron 2012-89: 3. 2 Oct 2012) rejected his 19th Sep 2012 lectotypification and retypied A. latifolium: lectotype (PH); isolectotype: BM, NY; possible isolectotype: GH. Since the GH label is also in Nuttall's hand-writing, it is construed as part of the original type material, and Nesom's 1st LT. designation is retained here.
